A little bit about the reason recycled plastic buckets should not be used to store foodstuffs. This is because there is a chance of contamination. Â Maybe not a huge chance but It is possible that there could be that unwanted substances have left inside the plastic that is recycled and that these could also still appear in the recycled plastic.
As we say, it is unlikely but possible.
The way plastic is recycled is a two-stage process. First it is sorted and then cleaned and then it can either be shredded into flakes or melted into pellets before being moulded into eco-friendly plastic buckets.
Although care is taken in the recycling process, there remain risks of contamination which is why our recycled plastic tubs are purely for non-food use.
